Artist's Comments

A picture I drew of Michael because I wanted to do more pencil drawings using the grid method. I don't have an ebony pencil to color in his hair, so I'll get one from school tomorrow and then color in the rest. For now I think it looks pretty cool with the grid still in his hair.

I had to take a picture of it and boost the brightness and contrast because it's too big to fit in my scanner.

This is looking really good! I should try the grid method sometime, I never thought of that...

Something about the eyes doesn't look right.
But the shading looks lovely.

It works really well, my art teacher made us do it for a project and even though I hated it at first, it works very very well.

Well what you do is you get a picture you want to draw, you print it out or whatever but just make sure you can write on the copy. Measure it and figure out how big it is then how big you want to make your drawing. For example, my picture of Michael was about 7x5 inches so I times that by two and got 14x10 and that's how big my drawing would come out.

So I drew a grid with a ruler on the picture with the squares each being a half inch big. I'd also have to times that by two to get the drawing how big I want it so I drew a grid on my drawing paper with squares one inch big. You then look at each individual square on the picture and draw what you see in that square on the corresponding square on your drawing paper. Then you erase the grid lines before you start to shade.

Hope I helped. ^^
